New Artwork

Introduction
I have to say that progress has been super slow. But I totally have a legit reason and that is because of MIDTERMS. I finally have some time to breathe to get this posted and then go back to studying. So there's not much to expect in this post. Still, I did make some important changes so I need to make an update post before I confuse myself.

Plot
Hahahah! What plot? Just kidding. Thank goodness for these update posts. I still have last times ideas all pretty and posted on my blog. That's wonderful! Mainly because I forgot all about the student council that is supposed to be the main antagonist of the story. I made no progress in the plot so far. The farthest I've gotten is the first choice scene where the player gets to choose what to do with Mio. It's like the first step of wooing the guys kind of scene, except the player doesn't know where each guy is located.

Anyways, it's the "starting to get to know the guys" first step and that is all I have done on the plot side. The student council is still nonexistent at this point and I think they will remain nonexistent since I want to get character art done first.

Art
I changed my art style and it made everything better significantly. So I'm scrapping the old picture of Mio and using my new picture. So far, all of Mio's facial expressions are done. I'm too lazy to add anymore. Maybe I might, or maybe I won't. I made a ton, so I think it's best if I just stop there and move on.

Actually that's what I did. I was able to get Kale's art done. I only has his normal done. I'll work on the rest of his expressions next. However, I changed my art style again, so Mio might be the odd one out since I feel that the burn tool is much easier to use for shading instead of grabbing three different shades of a color and coloring places where the respective colors will most likely be and then going back and blurring it all together. I also want to say that the blur tool isn't very strong and hardly works in the program I'm using. So yes, burning and dodging forever.

I guess this game might end up being the test subject for my art styles or something.

Kale:

Characters
I don't think I've added any new characters. However, Mio's personality developed because of how her picture turned out. So I'm adding more to Mio's personality.

I've also developed Kale's personality as I've drawn him, but it's not really supposed to be revealed without giving a ton of spoilers in the game... READ AT YOUR ON RISK? 8D? Not that I really expect many people reading though, but I do know these kinds of things bother people. XD

Mio: I said that her personality was kind of nonexistent as her different responses kind of give her all kinds of personalities, but I've managed to tone that down for the sake of consistency. Mio's personality is that of a serious, no-nonsense girl. She's somewhat blunt and a bit of a loner since she's not really the uselessly friendly type.

Despite her serious nature, she's actually really passive and is easy to push around--which is why Lydia became such good friends with her in middle school. Mio is easily swept into other people's flow. She is also easily startled.

I think her personality will just keep getting more and more detailed as I keep going with this game. As much as I wanted to keep her personality vague for the sake of the players, I can't really do that because her character art turned out more serious than I expected and because this is just a visual novel with many different endings for Mio. Besides, I think people prefer to have a character with a personality--as long as it isn't annoying. Although I don't know if people will like Mio much since she's kind of serious...

Kale: In general, he's gentlemanly and nice to everyone. He is very laid back and doesn't seem to stress out about anything. He has the strange ability to sneak up on people without them realizing it. Kale is calm and understanding, but he is very hard to read since he usually keeps the same smile on his face. Overall, he's a very sociable and friendly guy.

SPOILER SECTION. I strike it because it makes it harder to read. I'm awesome right?
Deep inside, he is fairly manipulative and quite the opportunist. He's like a predator. He's pretty good at sneaking around, and when he doesn't seem like he's listening, he actually is listening. He has a good memory and tries to stay informed about everything, mainly for blackmail purposes. He's a bit of a sadist since he enjoys teasing people and if they give him the reaction he likes he will continue to keep teasing them.

When someone actually makes him mad, he is unforgiving and ruthless. He holds grudges and once someone has gotten on his wrong side, they will remain on that bad side unless they do him a great favor to earn his forgiveness.

Kale plays the guitar and sings. He enjoys rock and heavy metal which is where his singing style comes from. He rarely performs in public mainly because it contradicts the kind of personality he has displayed before people.

Yes, I think a lot when I'm drawing people. ; w; I'm writing this down so I could remember that I even came up with all this so I won't forget.

Conclusion:
So asides from some character developing, I hardly have any work done. I'll work on more later, but I have to pass my midterms first. Hopefully I'll get more work done soon! D8<

Dopplegangers

THEY DO EXIST! Yes, it was the oddest moment of my life. I was being a weird person and was browsing through anime convention pictures since I love looking at cosplays when I come across a girl cosplaying as Megurine Luka.

It was a fairly standard outfit. It was accurate, but she just didn't have the appearance of Luka which can't be helped. I give kudos to her for such an accurate cosplay though. However, the reason my eyes bugged out at her was because I thought she was me for a moment and I was trying to remember when I ever dared to cosplay/ wear a pink wig in public. Then it dawned on me that it wasn't me but a look-alike.

I had to say, the resemblance was creepy and it became a fact to me. DOPPLEGANGERS DO EXIST! Considering that this is a convention that happened in the Philippines and I live in the United States, I guess it's no coincidence that we live across the entire world from each other. Hahahahahah! XD

Just kidding. It probably is a big coincidence, but I was so amused by this revelation of mine. The funny thing is that I know she exists, but she has no idea about me! Wahahahahah! Gosh, I'm such a creeper. D8

Anyways, I thought I'd get this out in some form or way since the amusement is overloading my brain. I never thought I'd find someone who looked so much like me. o-o It's creepy when you see yourself in a picture in a scene that you know didn't happen.

Mio Art finished

Intro
It's time for the Delightful Teatime Club progress check! I just started the project yesterday and so far it's been going really smoothly. I was able to get some work done, but my progress has been very slow because of work and college.

Plot
The plot is still the same. One girl stuck in a club with six guys. Although I keep being a horrible person to myself or I'm some kind of masochist for pain because I'm thinking about adding two other male characters into the running as possible love candidates. The school doctor and the student council president.

The reason I thought of it just now is because I randomly gave Alex (one of the candidates) an older brother who happens to be the school doctor. However, he's fairly young. But I'm a lazy person and I will shoot down this possible candidate. The school doctor is married. So there. That's what's going to happen in the plot. It's possible to generate friendship points with him, I guess. So... what's the difference? There's still going to be issues with complicated twists and turns. I'll have to start outlining all the different pathways because I'm definitely going to confuse myself.

The student council was brought up because I felt like the plot was very shallow. I need to add a little more to the plot. So there will be a student council who will be closing down useless clubs because there are too many clubs but not enough room or space. With that, the student council turns their eyes to the Delightful Teatime Club because it is, in fact, a useless club as all the club members just sit around drinking tea. So it's up to Mio and her friends to keep the club going and convince the student council that their club isn't useless.

Which comes to allow the student council president as a possible candidate as he will often pass by to check on their progress. As for how I'm going to implement their little flirting scenes, I have yet to figure out. Although, because I'm such a horrible person and I'm a realist, I start the president off with -10 points since he thinks Mio is a useless person in a useless club.

Gameplay
So far, I'm working on the first flirting scenes. It's taking me a while to think up the script for it so this will be fairly slow. Also, I'm taking time off of it to do art.

Art
Only Mio's art is finished. I managed to get her different faces, but it's nothing too... amazing. Hopefully I'll get better with my art so I can redo the art I have for Mio.

I've got Mio's mom's sketch done, but I'm still trying to figure out the different faces to give her. Also, Mio's mom will also be getting special poses just because she can.

Conclusion
So my goal is to get the first flirting scenes done. I don't think I'll be able to get to the student council by tomorrow. Also, I'll try to get sketches of Mio's mom done and try to start on Lydia.

This is Mio's default pose

Delightful Teatime Club Project

Intro:
So I think I'll be labeling everything for the sake of skimming. I'm a lazy person and even I can't stand my own ranting. So labels are wonderful and helpful when it comes to blogging or writing long rants that have information I might need later.

Upon seeing my blog, a friend of mine showed me Ren'Py which is a program that can be used to make otome games! So I decided that I should go for it!

Right now, I'm going at it alone, which kind of stinks since I don't have much input on what I'm doing. The help that I'm getting is from the super kind artists in the world that allow their work to be used for free. Of course I'm giving credit to them.

So other than those super nice people, I'm at it on my own.

I've spent the past day busting my brain into smithereens trying to grasp the system that is being used in Ren'Py. So far, I've got the basics down. I don't think anyone should expect a lot from me, and I doubt anyone is. I'm starting up this little project so I can keep track of what I'm doing and what I'm learning so I can look back at this and be like "Oh yeah! On that date I learned how to make this! I should try looking back at it because I usually forget stuff!"

So everything is subject to changes. I might add more to the plot or change things around. It all depends on what happens in the future. I just thought i'd get this out to remind myself not to work myself into a dead end.

Plot:
Okay, so enough with the intros. Let's move on with the little idea that started in my head. I thought I'd start with a very simple plot which is a high school plot. I'm just going to make a visual novel. I don't think I have the skills to add things like the bars of skills and bars of love points yet like in the other games I've seen.

The basic plot of the Delightful Teatime Club is about a girl named Mio who is now a freshman in high school. She's going to be attending Levine High School and it is well known for having a lot of exotic clubs. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Mio gets stuck joining the Delightful Teatime Club which is often confused with being a host club because asides from Mio, the club is full of guys.

As Mio progresses in her high school life, she may fall in love, make rivals, or encounter unforeseen events (ahahahah I'm so vague, aren't I?).

The progress of the plot is still a tiny idea and is subject to change and improvements in the future! Right now, this is all I have.

Characters:
Mio: The heroine of the story. Her personality kind of varies depending on the choices that the player picks for her. Although her main personality is that of a blunt and slightly sarcastic girl who may veer a little towards the tomboy side.

Lydia: Mio's best friend from middle school. She's sportsy, pushy, and tomboyish. Her joy in life is tackling people. She's very loud and very blunt.

Mom: Mio has a mother, of course! She is an exotic woman who yearns for girl talk and girly things, but due to her exotic nature and unusual strength, she sort of scares them away. A doting mother when she wants to be, Mio's mother is a good cook and is apparently nameless except for Mom because I'm such a lazy and horrible person.

As for the guys, I have already their names and the idea of their personalities in my head, but I think I'll experiment with their character development a little more before I put them down. So here's the list of names of Mio's club members: Kale, Gil, Roy, Pierre, Alex, and Matthew.

Character art:
I have none done so far. I plan to work on Mio's art the moment I finish this blog. So this will take a while and the production that I have will be character art-less. Well, good luck to me!

Gameplay:
As of right now, it's a visual novel. Choices and everything can be made through the game and the way I'm setting it up is making the game so long that I know I will cry tears of blood once I get further and further through the game.

As I mentioned in the plot section, I don't know if I'll be able to implement relationship bars and skill bars or any kind of bars in particular. The relationship points will remain unknown to the player as they progress through the game so the ending will hit them with a surprise. I have a feeling that this will cause a lot of negative feedback if I have anyone try to play it since it's hard to tell if she's getting the guy she wants.

So far the ending seems simple. At the end (it will come at some point but that requires a lot of future planing), the boy with the most relationship points will trigger the ending and stuff happens. I think I might even have an alone ending if someone just decided to play around and just make everyone hate her character. There are also friendship endings where the person with the most points happens to be a female character.

Progress:
Hahah, you're joking! What progress? Just kidding. There's like a tiny bit of progress. Thanks to the wonderful people who are so kind, I have the background and music implemented as well as the some of the script done.

Now, I will be working on Mio's character art! I think I'll post up some of my pictures (if I finish) in my next post!

Otome Games

I just recently found out about English ones that can be bought online and be played on the PC. I've been running around collecting demos and playing a bunch of them, but when it comes to choosing one to play, I'm having a hard time deciding which one to pick. Each  demo was entertaining to me and there are so many different aspects of each game that I liked a lot.

I guess I'm blogging about it to help me decide. All this is basically a bunch of internal ranting to keep my mind organized because maybe if I see my thoughts laid out in front of me, deciding might be easier. After all, each game is about $20 each, and usually $30 is the max I want to spend in a week or even a month if I have to on entertainment. If I really want to, I could push it up to 40, but I really don't want to go there. I guess people can call me stingy or something. So I've decided to choose one game and not think about getting the other games until the next month or two if I really want to play them.

So here is the list of the games that I'm considering to get: Long Live the Queen, X-Note, Always Remember Me, Love & Order, and Magical Diary.
EDIT: I found more games so I'm adding them. Cinder and Cute Knight Kingdom

So yeah. I'm going to evaluate all the games so I could figure out what I like. Now, everything I say are based on the demos and reviews. I haven't actually played the full games, obviously. I usually don't do game reviews and this blog is mainly for me to decide which game I want. 8D

Long Live the Queen:
The art is super cute and I enjoyed the concept of the game. Although, there were a bunch of questions left unanswered by the demo and it made me a very hesitant to get this game over anything else. On the bright side, it's the cheapest of all the games since it's about $12.99 while the others are like exactly $20 or $19.99. I did poke around reviews for my unanswered questions, and they all kind of answered the question that I had. It was more like the lack of what I was looking for that really answered my question. I was wondering if you could have the character form any close relationships with the people around her--Be it friendships and romance, but the reviews didn't seem to mention things like that and the system of the game left little room for relationship building. As I was playing the demo, the game was a bit lonely for me since the character seemed to only have her father and some priestess woman as her constant support or consultant. I had her visit both of them a few times, but they just said the same thing which was super lonely.

On the flip side, I was surprised to find that the game was not some cutesy princess becoming a great queen with the support of everyone around her. It turned out to be a very political game and depending on the choices you make, the character either makes it or breaks it. According to the reviews, she gets assassinated many times. With so little time, yet so much to learn, there's a lot of pressure put in the game and a lot of thinking. So that was a really nice surprise for me.

X-Note
I really liked this game a lot. It's kind of for the same reason that's been mentioned in many other reviews. It's the tie between a dating sim and a mystery. I love a good mystery and to have it with a dating sim is just too good to be true. So far--based on the demo--it doesn't seem like it'll be at all cutesy and facepalmingly painful where the main girl is a clueless, silly girl who relies on the dudes to help her out while she cries and is helpless all the time. Although, I didn't expect it to be anything like that since the art seemed to have a serious tone about it.

So asides from the mystery in this game, the other main reason I want to get it is because the reviews informed me that the character development for the guys was pretty good compared to other games where they throw in stereotypical dudes and leave it at that. I really do appreciate character development, so this game seems like a game that I'll really like.

However, it seems very short. After all, it's a game revolving around a mystery and it has to eventually be solved. It can't really be dragged out for very long. As much as I would love to play through the game to see the different endings, I usually don't have the patience to play through again and again. Although I did hear that each route answered different questions to the mystery, I figured I'll probably have to play it to find out if the answered questions were satisfying enough.

So the big factor for me to not get this game is that it seems short, which is not good because I'm paying $20 for this game! Yes, I'm being stingy again. Also, a review mentioned that even after you play through all the routes, the story did leave some questions and that after playing through the game, it left that empty feeling of unanswered questions. I'm very big on a super satisfied ending where I'm not feeling any emptiness. So I don't want to experience a mega buyer's remorse when I finish the game.

Always Remember Me
This is what I thought all otome games were all about and I kind of dubbed this as my stereotypical otome game. Still, I can't deny the fact that I enjoyed the demo so it made the list of the games that I wanted to buy. The storyline is simple and there's not much I could say about it that I found unique or that I really liked. I like the art and the music is pretty entertaining. Although the vocals in the intro (now I guess this is me being a stupid meanie butt, I guess) seemed a bit amateurish. However, it's not super annoying and I would listen to it. I guess this is what I get for watching all the best performances on X-Factor on youtube.

I think the main reason I liked this game was because it is entertaining. You have to budget your time fairly wisely since (according to a review) the game ends when the main character goes back to school and it's possible to get the alone ending. I also heard that there are endings for the other characters such as "what happened to them when you picked this route" so it's not like "Oh here's your ending! 8D" and you're stuck still wondering what the other characters were doing. At least that's what I heard in a review.

Although the main character seems like your typical sweet heroine, but I guess it's not so bad. This game seems to be like a guilty pleasure to me to show that my super girly side about romances still does exist.

However, the plot of the story is that you already start off with a boyfriend and he loses his memory about you. You're forced to choose "Oh let's rekindle the luuurve!" or "Yup, we're not meant to be. I'm moving ooon." So because of the situation they start you off with, I'm flipping tables because I can't bring myself to just ditch the boyfriend and try to woe other guys because it feels wrong. After all, as his girlfriend, you would think you shouldn't give up so easily because of this horrible tragedy, right? So if I do get this game, my first playthrough will be for the boyfriend.

Love & Order
So this game might be a bit biased for me since it was the last demo I played and I'm still getting the happy vibes from playing it. I'll try to keep it fair, mainly because this is my money on the line and I absolutely hate buyer's remorse.

So I did enjoy this game quite a lot. At first I hated it since I kept accidentally skipping my lunch breaks which accumulated stress and I got to the point where I had 100% stress and I was failing like everything. So I was like "I'M DONE *ragequits*" but for some odd reason I chose to try again. So if you take your breaks and try not to overwork your character and just... chill, then life is all good and you don't have to worry about breaks. Of course, the point is to not take on more jobs than you can do and keep your stress levels low.

So once I figured out how to keep my stress levels low, I was able to finally enjoy the game. I ran around doing work for most of the game and I have no idea why, but that was entertaining. Although, it did make it so that I hated the weekends because I had nothing to do since those were my day offs.

There also is a mystery in the game that you start out with, but the way it kind of showed up randomly and the way the character just never thought about it EVER unless you're taking the time to investigate it, I deemed it as unimportant, but I probably should do it anyways.

However, I did like how the romance went about. Although in reality, I don't really agree with flirting or dating at all in a workplace. Work is work, love is for... anywhere outside of work. However, the game is fun and I'll overlook it this time since the game would be super boring if all I made my character do is work. So what I do like about the romance is that once you've chosen your person, this person will take the time to go visit you and schedule dates so you don't have to take the time to do it. So it makes that super happy feeling that you're the one being pursued rather than you having to bend over backwards to pursue the character you're after.

I do have a complaint about the game. So far, the demo leaves you at a random point and you're like wondering "I wonder if the ENTIRE game is going to be like this." You know, just running around in the office with the occasional date to make you happy. Oh and the thrown in mystery that can keep you busy for a bit. If it's just that and nothing else, I refuse to pay $20 only to get bored of the format after a few days. I think I could just console myself with the demo.

Cinder
The art style isn't anime at all and that at first put me off, but I have a love for fairytales and I thought "Why not? It's free!" So I tried out the demo and actually enjoyed it. It's a visual novel and there's a story that you have to follow. What you do is make choices for Cinder and depending on your choice, it changes the story. Even though it's not anime, the art isn't so bad to look at. I actually quite like the art.

So pretty much, this game is like a book where you get to make choices for the main character. It is entertaining and the story isn't all that bad (but that's probably me being a fairy tale fanatic) and there are mysteries involved where you just want to know what happens next. I seriously want to consider this game because it is pretty entertaining and I do like the story, but the major down factor is that I'm blowing off all the other games and their great aspects just for an "online book" where I can make choices for the main character.

Well, I'll think about it for a little bit.

Cute Knight Kingdom
This was a really cute game. Hahah. Just kidding. Sorry, that was bad. Anyways, I did like it but the trial version was a bit short, but I sort of see what kind of game it is from it. I like the choices they give you in this game. You can choose to be anything really. You can excel at different jobs like fighting, weaving, cooking, and so on. You can change your attire to match what you're doing and I can bet there are an assortment of clothes (and I really love to have an assortment of clothes).

So yeah. I liked this game and wanted to be a kick ass warrior person who went around slaughtering monsters. Maybe the demo doesn't let me play for very long to experience the best of it? Or maybe I just managed to evade it all accidentally, but I am not liking the battle system if it's all about "exertion" or "concentration" during the day. The graphics left a lot for me to desire and the art was okay. I wasn't able to get into the story aspect of the game so I wasn't sure if I could expect much from the story either. So... I'm hesitant about this game.

Magical Diary
This is the last game that I'm kind of throwing in, but I know probably won't win. It was the first demo I tried which was why I decided to throw it in. I almost bought it if I hadn't tried other demos. Gosh, thank goodness I didn't. However, I'm not saying this isn't a bad game. This was actually very entertaining. I enjoyed playing the demo. There were just a few annoying things about the game that just bumped it off the list.

So the intro and a few scenes are just clicking scenes for me. I wasn't entertained enough to read everything and it felt like pointless jabber sometimes. So I had a hard time getting into the game. However, I did get into it when they brought up my class schedule and I got all excited about being a super awesome powerful mage and tried to balance out my magic.

What drew me into this game were the possible battle scenes. I would have loved this game entirely if it was like an rpg/adventure game where you battle monsters as well as a dating sim game. However, I did look up the "dungeons" and found them disappointing and the battle scenes seemed very scarce too. So boo.

I also would like to complain about the lack of choices. I give kudos to the game for same sex choices if you wanted to play that way. However, I'm sorry but I wouldn't want to play that way. So if i narrow the two same genders out, I get three choices. Damien is the typical dude the girls will go for. He's a demon and people are scared of him because he's "cursed" and you can be the on who sees past all that. Then there's Donald who is just your roommate's brother who likes pranks. Except in the demo, I didn't really get that much interaction with him and I didn't even realize he was a choice at all. Then there's the angry professor guy who I would totally love to kick in the shin and run away. He seemed to be like an old man to me so I was a bit freaked out to find that he was a possible candidate. Maybe he's younger than I thought he was. Anyways, he was surprisingly popular when I went to make extra sure and looked it up on youtube. I'm sorry for being narrow-minded, but I guess I should probably just say that he's not my type. After all, I just don't like nagging old people and that's what he came off to me as when I first ran into him through the demo.

I would totally pick that glasses guy who appears like once in the demo as Donald's friend! D8<

So if I were to pick, I'd pick Donald. Damien makes me facepalm with his cheesy lines and I don't like the professor guy. Which goes to say, I have no choices which made me not want to get the game. 8D

Although I do feel like this game is like some kind of parody of something. After all, in the demo, the default name for your character is Mary Sue, and if you're into writing or if you're in the RP community, you know what that is. But if I wanted some kind of parody on dating sims, I'd get HATOFUL BOYFRIEND. 8D

And so that's it! I finished with my analysis of the games that I like! I'm going to come over this and try to focus on the likes and dislikes since my explanations make my brain all skewed and I'll be back to square one. So my choices will be based on the likes and dislikes and the one that seems the most likable WINS and I will buy the game.

I'm surprised if anyone read this, but if you did, I bet you were probably looking for a pretty decent otome game. Well, if you're curious or bored or whatever, I'll comment to this post the choice that I made. =D

Oh! Oh! And any other games that could be suggested are ALWAYS welcome.

DualRivalShipping

So I started on looking for the pictures and I was so surprised with finding how popular this ship was! I think it's absolutely adorable, but I'm completely won over by the cute pictures. Cute pictures always win me over. I'm such a pushover when it comes to shippings. As long as there are cute pictures, I'll be won over so easily. Yes, so I am pretty much a fan of this ship.

But I love ALL THE SHIPS. I'm so fickle. Okay, so enough about my ranting about how much I love ships, and we'll be moving on to the main part of the post. DualRivalShipping! I tried looking for how it got its name and I couldn't really find a reliable source. So I guess we'll be assuming by the name and since I'm very literal when it comes to names, I'll just dissect the name in my lame dissecting ways. Since Cheren and Bianca are both rivals and dual kind of means two in a sense, then it makes sense if it's DualRivalShipping since they're both rivals! I'm sure everyone else got that impression too. I am just explaining the obvious.

So yes, Cheren and Bianca are the childhood friends of the main hero/heroine in Pokemon Black and White. Cheren is the one who picks the pokemon that's stronger than the hero/heroine and Bianca is the one that picks the weaker one. Obviously Cheren aims for strength and Bianca kind of resigns herself to doing the best she can and just ends up being an assistant for Professor Juniper-- similar to Barry and Lucas, Barry being the one for strength and Lucas being the assistant of Rowan.

As usual, all art posted don't belong to me and belong to their respective owners. I am just the person who Googled all these and put them all together in one place.

Now for a little bit of commenting from me. I enjoyed looking at all the pictures as well as posting them! I think this is all I'll be doing for the Unova region for now, but I might come back to the region to do some updates or add more ships. But I kind of want to move on to the other regions now. My next post will be a secret as I try to sort out which request to do first. Unless I get a request for a shipping in the Unova region, it will probably take a long time before I ever get back to this region. I sure had fun with the ships though!

Now then, it's time for me to stop typing and just get to the part that most people only care about! The pictures! Here it is! DualRivalShipping!
